Pregnant stray rescued in the nick of time!
A pregnant stray was spotted wandering around a rural wooded area of Franklinton, NC in early September. She was quite timid and played keep-away with the humans who were trying to help her. A Good Samaritan expressed growing concern that this beagle momma would have her babies alone in the woods so she reached out to TBR/and our trapping experts BRATT for help. Traps, cameras, and supplies were packed and a volunteer headed out to help capture this mom-to-be. As they were en route, they received a call saying that mom had wandered right into her home for some dinner. Momma was named Peanut and she was driven to a loving foster home in Raleigh, NC.
Several days later, her pups were ready to be born. Peanut had a very difficult labor and had to be rushed to the Dogtor in the middle of the night. She had three puppies via emergency c-section — 1 boy and 2 girls — named after the Peanuts gang-Linus, Peppermint Patty and Marcie. The pups are healthy and wiggly and mom is doing great!
We are so happy we were able to bring her into the rescue and help her through her labor and delivery. Emergency procedures like this are quite costly to the rescue and we appreciate all of the donations we have received to support this adorable beagle family!
