Welcome home, Doc!

Our story begins when Doc took off for an adventure on Friday, 5/19. Doc was seen one street over shortly after his daring escape, but he decided not to return home right away with his foster siblings. His foster mom and dad contacted TBR who reached out to the Beagle Recovery And Tracking Team for assistance. Bacon grilling commenced to lure Doc back home and a trap & camera were deployed to capture him upon his return. Doc was just starting his journey and went out of the neighborhood for an agonizing week. The BRATT team and SOS Lost Pet Recovery came in with tracking dog, Shadow, to determine a direction of travel for Doc. Although the tracking results showed that the scent articles were not viable, the team was advised of some additional information and the focus immediately shifted to the new area with posters. The following morning, Doc made his first appearance in eight days between the new focus area and home. He made it to withing one block of home but then decided to hunker down, likely due to the approaching weather. The grill was fired back up with bacon, the bait trail from the sidewalk to the trap refreshed, more bait was added to the trap, and some additional bait was trailed up the steps to the back porch.

At 3:28am on Sunday morning, Doc was finally on camera at the trap in the back yard!! He was not overly eager to go into the trap and spend the next hour shuffling around the back yard eating every last piece of bait outside of the trap before finally following the trail up onto the porch and into the house through the doggie door. Everyone was elated and massively relieved to have Doc home safe and secure.

Thank you to the Beagle Recovery And Tracking Team (BRATT), SOS Lost Pet Recovery, the Stahmer family, and the neighborhood residents who were looking out for Doc!
